Albergo’s Panoramic Restaurant
Known as a world of its own, the magnificent Albergo Hotel hides beautiful gems. From its exceptionally designed interiors and highly professional staff, to the exquisite cuisine that’s catered by Chef Nicolas Offredi. If you want a rich glimpse of the Lebanese culture, blended with a western touch, Albergo’s Panoramic Restaurant is a must if you are ever in Beirut.
We entered into a world of huge persian carpets, Ottoman chandeliers with pearl pendants, romantic wallpaper, dreamy floral sofas and chairs, with inviting huge pillows that call you to immediately sink in. The antique ambiance is fortified by low lights, phoenician artifacts, large hand-carved copper trays as tables, Damascus-mother-of-pearl tables, in addition to exquisite china and tableware.
The service was amazing. Albergo’s staff were highly attentive, smiling politely, with extensive knowledge of every ingredient of every item on the menu. The waiter helped us choose and perfect our favorite selections. Leaving some space for desert, we ordered their Grilled Vegetables salad, in addition to Shrimp Risotto with creamy parmesan sauce.
While waiting for our dishes, we were served into freshly baked pieces of bread, butter, extra virgin olive oil from the Qadisha Valley of Lebanon, in addition to an authentic Italian balsamic sauce, De Cecco.
Our dishes were divine! The grilled vegetables were delicious and crunchy, as we like them to be, while the Risotto was incredibly rich and creamy. Just perfect! The deserts however, were the highlight of the evening!
The Alexandra cake was pure heaven. It is a rich chocolate cake, with a soft inside of chocolate lava. Cold chocolate lava. Yes, that’s how I named it. I was dreaming of it all the time the next day! Whereas the Mousse Au Chocolat Albergo, was simply a divine mousse, with a semi-solid chocolate interior, that melts in your mouth. Also, just perfect.
Albergo’s Panoramic Restaurant is a highlight in Beirut. I’m happy to have discovered a sanctuary for my ever-hungry-for-gourmet-adventures palate, and my love for beautiful interiors and quite rooftops to escape to.
After dinner, the staff were kind enough to offer us a tour around their spectacular rooftop, which deserves a blog post of its own.
