I Left My Heart in New York
If you haven’t been to New York City, you should know that your journey in this life is not yet complete. Whether I’m reuniting with girlfriends or looking for a weekend getaway, I’d choose New York and only New York. It’s the city where dreams come true, promises are made and broken, and hearts are amended.
I love the quietness of Sundays, the early runs in Central Park on a crisp fall day, and the hours spent on a ladder in secondhand bookshops. I love Sinatra music playing on 5th Avenue, the long lines for brunch in SoHo, and the delicatessens in Chelsea market. I love to watch sunsets over Brooklyn Bridge and to indulge on Tiramisu in Little Italy.
New York is to be enjoyed like a fancy five course meal. Every course has its character and flavor, but they all blend so beautifully together. The best advice for exploring New York is to lose the guidebook and follow your senses. Avoid the cliches (Time’s Square and 5th Avenue shopping), and branch out to the different neighborhoods: Chelsea, Upper West Side, East Village, SoHo. Take the time to explore by foot, check the window displays and allow yourself to be inspired by what’s around you.
Live like a local. Dine like a local at places such as farmer’s markets, mom-and pop shops, or just have your own lunch breaks in the park… New York’s energy is unbeatable. It makes you believe that everything is possible, if you really want it.
Whatever your cravings are, this city will satisfy them. So leave the guidebook behind, pack comfy flats, and book a flight to New York.
