Simple Detox Water Recipe
Have you been trying to stick to a healthy eating regimen lately? I know I am! Luckily, I’ve always been a heavy drinker of water, which helps remove toxins, prevent bloating, improve digestion and enhance skin glow. But I know not all people love drinking water, so here’s a simple detox water recipe I’ve derived through my personal experience, combining several healthy recipes I found here and there:
– 1 to 2 liters of water (careful to pick the type with the lease sodium levels)
– 1 medium-sized cucumber
– 1 lemon
– 1 orange
– 10 to 15 fresh mint leaves
– Ice cubes (you may skip that during winter!)
Chop all ingredients (do not peel them!) except mint leaves, and put all in water to diffuse overnight.
How does this combo work?
Water: helps flush toxins and waste from our cells and digestive tract, while keeping us hydrated and energized.
Cucumber: contains citrulline which is an amino acid that has been shown to help our liver and kidneys get rid of ammonia which is a by-product of the proteins our bodies burn for energy.
Lemon: Stimulates the digestive tract, which makes it helpful if you have bloating, constipation, heartburn, etc… Also helps in reducing cholesterol levels.
Orange: contains flavonoids in its peel and juice that stimulate the immune system and protects against all fungi/pests while helping to reduce cholesterol levels. Its vitamin C will also increase your metabolism & energy!
Mint: helps your system digest effectively because it improves the flow of bile from the liver to the gallbladder to the small intestine, to break down dietary fats. It also helps relax cramped up stomach muscles.
This detox water recipe is perfect if you want to slim your belly!
PS: Don’t keep the water for more than 24 hours, because by this time, all the nutrients diffused from the ingredients are gone!
